False innocent

The sea rises suddenly and rains blow after watery blow, flooding the land, until, as if exhausted, the waves recede back. Like a matching transition, the outgoing shot blends into the incoming shot, from scene to scene, from conflict to conflict.

One more year on, the world has Donalded, reality TV becomes reality Politics, and cinema gasps in astonishment and takes notes from a frightened world. Fear of, global warming. Fear of, a new financial meltdown. Oh yes! Fear of, more Trueba films. Fear of new thieves, and freedon of expression. There are even those who feel threatened by robots or even by chemicals in perfectly shaped blood-red tomatoes. Psychology has also contributed much to the lexicon of fear; Gamophobia, is the fear of marriage. Cacophobia, is the fear of ugly people. Nephophobia, is the fear of clouds or even, Donaldofobia, the fear of the man with the yellow hairpiece.

One could think that in the era of sped up information, that it seems that each data hides a potential fear, and therefore the informed world is in a constant state of transition, from fear, to more fear. But like all history, our time is also optimistic and ironically, we live in an era with longer life expectancy. In addition, there’s never been a better time for the world to enjoy more cinema.

Perhaps it is this constant transition towards an uncertain future, full of conflict, twisted plots, mysteries, passions and boredom that fuels our interest in Noir and it’s sub-genres; Police, thriller, neo-noir, suspense, terror … you choose! The genre that has always feared forward in a world filth of false innocents.
For the spectacle.
