CARTELES DE CINE Y CENSURA

We are facing virtually a visual exhibition, which deals exclusively with the advertising of films, posters, advertising guides, programme handouts, postcards, press clichés, material lists (leaflets), photograms … We will try to give the necessary keys from the vision of the true protagonists of this amazing painting crusade among the brush professionals and an outdated system full of false morals and intolerance that did not hesitate to reject most of their works.
We will focus on showing those designs which suffered the inconsistencies imposed by Franco`s regime, and that were distinguished by the large number of tweaks and rectifications that artists had to do on any work that went beyond the red lines of morality and decency (always according to the scrupulous opinion of the censors).
The viewer will have the opportunity to observe the double moral and contradictory tolerance that was given to the material. However, the censors, who used to alternate stages of extreme rigour with timid attempts of flexibility.
An insufferable path that would last until December 1, 1977, when the B.O.E. officially announced and by decree that the first government of President Adolfo Suarez had decided to suppress censorship.
